SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE MUSIC

Eryn Oft: Out of the Box and the follow up singles from Shadow Tracks exemplify socially responsible music. By engaging the audience in the album production, Raffe Studio held true to their corporate responsibility values. The album highlighted music that had typically been marginalized in the Classical music tradition. To successfully navigate discussions of appropriation, Raffe Studio was careful to demonstrate deference to elders and request appropriate permissions. Collaborative artists were paid in advance of services. And Raffe Studio signed legal documents that maintain the safety and exhibit respect to historically marginalized communities’ tradition and heritage.
