FOX SHAPER: SPINE CENTERED

SnowReedMontage
A SNOWPOCALYPSE HAPPENED THIS WEEK IN ALABAMA! It made Coco and I think of just taking a LONG NAP with Cuddles…  BUT THE REED DESK KEPT CALLING TO US…. SO- We Decided to Conquer the Challenge of the FOX 2 SHAPER AND UNCENTERED SPINES.

Feathers-1
My Box of what I call Feathers. Reeds for Light, Delicate Performances. The ORANGE and PURPLE Wrapped Reeds: All FOX 2 SHAPER and MY CLIP THE TIP AND PLAY CANE.

Recently, I realized that over half of my box of “Feather” Reeds were from my CLIP THE TIP and PLAY CANE. It Matches Beautifully with My FOX 2 Shaper!

MY CHALLENGE: I have ALWAYS found it a TROUBLESOME to get the SPINE IN THE CENTER of the Fox 2 SHAPER with a level of CONSISTENCY and Exemplary ACCURACY.

Yesterday, I CONQUERED THE FOX 2 SHAPER!

Here’s What I did:

1. LOCATE THE SPINE AND MARK IF FROM THE INSIDELocateSpine_1_t_w600_h600

2. PLACE THE RULER SO THAT THE SPINE IS AT 5mm. MARK 0mm and 10mm. RELAX: DON’T WORRY ABOUT THE CURVE OF THE CANE.

3. LINE THE MARKS UP IN THE SHAPER. THE CENTER MARK MATCHES THE PIN LINES. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE YOUR MARKS AT 0mm and 10mm JUST OUTSIDE THE SHAPER!lineUpShaper

4. SHAPE THE CANE! REMEMBER TO TAKE SMALL PIECES TO AVOID TEARING BELOW THE SHAPER.

5. REMOVE FROM SHAPER AND ADMIRE RESULTS!

I hope you Enjoyed this LITTLE TRICK and it HELPS WITH YOUR SHAPING! Be sure to leave me a Comment if you DID! OR IF THERE IS A SPECIFIC REED MAKING PORTION YOU STRUGGLE WITH THAT YOU’D LIKE ME TO ADDRESS!

HAPPY BASSOON REED MAKING, EVERYBODY!
